Monumentale triplo CD sfornato dai DeaR, il progetto musicale ruotante attorno all’estro del torinese Davide Riccio, che include ben sessanta composizioni inedite sparse su decine di cassette.

Si tratta di brani che coprono un lunghissimo lasso temporale che va dal 1981 al 1990 e che talvolta sono stati vanamente proposti a case discografiche a dir poco miopi (o sorde, se preferite). Fortunatamente l’infaticabile Davide li ha ora messi a disposizione di tutti in una lussuosa confezione curata da Leonardo Di Lello.

Ascoltando la musica raffinata dei DeaR, si può apprezzare innanzi tutto l’evoluzione stilistica di Riccio, giacché i pezzi sono stati inseriti in ordine rigidamente cronologico. Le liriche sono in inglese, ma non mancano escursioni negli idiomi spagnolo, francese e tedesco, segno inequivocabile della completezza professionale dell’artista anche sotto questo specifico aspetto.

Alcune composizioni si basano su opere di Lorca, Moore, Apollinaire, Shelley, Eliot, Dickinson, Poe e altri ancora, ulteriore segno evidente di elevata cultura. Sotto il profilo squisitamente musicale, si rimane ammaliati dal profondo vocalism di Davide che ben si districa tra le atmosfere ipnotiche, psichedeliche, jazz e progressive sparse nei tre CD.

In taluni frangenti la sua voce ricorda quella di David Bowie, Peter Hammill, Lou Reed e il suo lirismo è sempre messo a disposizione di tracce mai banali nel loro incedere anche quando abbandonano la sperimentazione e abbracciano più prosaicamente la dance e il pop.

Un’operazione accurata in ogni minimo dettaglio e sarebbe davvero un peccato che tanta classe sia ad appannaggio di pochi fedeli seguaci. Allargate le vostre menti e uscite dalla banalità della musica contemporanea: ascoltatevi i DeaR!
