Gerry Conway, former drummer of Jethro Tull, was born on September 11, 1947.
He played in Ian Anderson's band in the early 80s. Previously, he had been a member of other bands, such as Fotheringay or Ecletion and recorded Dark-Eyed Sailor with Steeleye Span, his friends.
Conway has also worked on the debut albums of singers such as Sandy Denny and Shelagh McDonald, as well as being part of Cat Stevens' band for six years.
Since 1999 he has been a member of Fairport Convention and, occasionally, also of Pentangle.
He passed away on March 29 of this year due to complications
related to degenerative disease.
